To get used to: abairtí, cleachtaí, tástálacha agus samplaí

Get used to úsáidimid

Cé go ndéanann be used to cur síos ar staid (“cheana féin cleachta le rud éigin”), tagraíonn get used to don phróiseas a bhaineann le dul i dtaithí ar rud éigin. Úsáidimid é nuair atá rud éigin nua nó deacair ar dtús, ach éiríonn sé níos eolasaí de réir a chéile.

Is féidir an struchtúr seo a úsáid in aimsirí éagsúla: get / gets used to, am / is / are getting used to, got used to, was / were getting used to, will get used to, agus mar sin de.

An Láithreach Shimplí (éiríonn cleachtaithe le / éiríonn cleachtaithe le) ciallaíonn sé go minic “éiríonn cleachtaithe le himeacht ama” (próiseas ginearálta), agus béim á leagan ag an Láithreach Leanúnach (táim / tá / táimid ag éirí cleachtaithe le) ar “a bheith ag éirí cleachtaithe leis anois féin”.

Tá sé tábhachtach toradh agus próiseas san aimsir chaite a scaradh:
got used to = d’éirigh cleachta leis (toradh),
was / were getting used to = bhí ag éirí cleachta leis (próiseas).

Sa todhchaí, is gnách linn úsáid a bhaint as:
will get used to = beidh sé ag dul i dtaithí air (próiseas),
will be used to = beidh sé cleachta leis cheana féin (stát).
