Be used to 사용합니다

used to가 이미 중단된 과거의 규칙적인 행동을 가리킨다면, be used to는 현재의 습관을 나타내는 데 사용됩니다.
이는 어떤 사람에게 정상적이고 익숙하게 여겨지는 행동이나 상황을 표현합니다.

이 구조는 현재, 과거, 미래 시제에서 사용할 수 있습니다:
am / is / are used to, was / were used to, will be used to.

She is used to getting up early.
그녀는 일찍 일어나는 것에 익숙하다.
He said he was used to the long working hours.
그는 긴 근무 시간에 익숙하다고 말했다.
At first I wasn’t comfortable, but soon I was used to speaking in meetings.
처음에는 편하지 않았지만, 곧 회의에서 말하는 데 익숙해졌다.
After a few months, you will be used to speaking English every day.

Be used to 형식

be used to의 일반적인 문장 구조:
be 동사의 형태 뒤에 used to를 사용하고,
-ing로 끝나는 동명사(동사) 또는 명사가 뒤따릅니다.

She is used to studying at night.
그녀는 밤에 공부하는 것에 익숙하다.

Be used to 규칙

  • 이 구조에서 used to 뒤에는 항상 부정사가 아니라 명사 또는 -ing로 끝나는 동사 형태를 사용합니다.
    ❌ She is used to study at night.
    ✅ She is used to studying at night.
  • Be used to는 과정 자체가 아니라 (익숙해진 결과로서의) 상태를 설명합니다.
    그 과정은 get used to라는 구문으로 표현합니다.
    I am used to the schedule now.
    이제는 그 일정에 익숙해졌습니다.
    I am getting used to the schedule.
    저는 일정에 익숙해지고 있어요.
  • 이는 종종 대비를 나타내는 데 사용됩니다. 처음에는 어떤 것이 어렵거나 낯설었지만, 이제는 정상적으로 느껴진다는 뜻입니다. 이런 문장에서는 at first, now, any more 같은 단어와 비슷한 표현이 자주 보입니다.
    At first the job was stressful, but now I am used to it.
    처음에는 일이 스트레스가 많았지만, 이제는 익숙해졌습니다.

Be used to 부정

누군가가 어떤 것에 익숙하지 않다고 말하려면, 동사 be의 형태에 부정어 not을 더합니다: am not / isn’t / aren’t / wasn’t / weren’t used to.

He is not used to waking up early.

Be used to 질문들

질문에서는 동사 be와 함께 일반적인 도치(inversion)를 사용합니다:
am / is / are / was / were 형태가 주어(subject) 앞에 옵니다.
나머지 구문(used to + 동명사 / 명사)은 변하지 않습니다.

Wh-의문문에서는 동사 be 앞에 의문사(what, where, why, how, who 등)를 추가합니다. 나머지 구조는 그대로 유지됩니다.
